Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) says American tax dollars funded the creation of COVID-19.

“They keep trying to tell us this thing came from a bat, to a pangolin, to a hippopotamus, to Joe Rogan, that’s how we got it, when we all know that all the evidence points to this thing came from a lab and our tax dollars, our tax money was funding this very virus that’s disrupted our lives, hurt so many small business owners over the last two years,” Jordan said during an appearance on Fox News.

Check out part of his interview below:

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) claims, without evidence, that U.S. tax dollars were likely used to create COVID-19.

In May, Jordan, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the ranking Republican on the House Oversight Committee, launched an investigation into taxpayer funding of the Wuhan lab in China.

In a letter, they addressed “mounting evidence the COVID-19 pandemic started in the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the Chinese Communist Party covered it up.”

They wrote, “If U.S. taxpayer money was used to develop COVID-19, conduct gain of function research, or assist in any sort of cover-up, EcoHealth Alliance must be held accountable.”

Jordan and Comer continued, “It is incumbent upon grant recipients to ensure their work is performed within the scope of the grant, advances our national interest, and protects our national security.”

The Intercept obtained documents revealing U.S. grants funded COVID-19 research at the Wuhan lab. The documents reportedly detailed the “work of EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S.-based health organization that used federal money to fund bat coronavirus research at the Chinese laboratory.”

Gary Ruskin, executive director of U.S. Right To Know, said, “This is a roadmap to the high-risk research that could have led to the current pandemic.”

According to the outlet, “One of the grants, titled ‘Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence,’ outlines an ambitious effort led by EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak to screen thousands of bat samples for novel coronaviruses. The research also involved screening people who work with live animals.”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) previously battled with Dr. Anthony Fauci over whether the U.S. funded research at the lab. He tweeted about the report.

“Surprise surprise – Fauci lied again. And I was right about his agency funding novel Coronavirus research at Wuhan,” Paul said.
