Rep. Paul Gosar’s (R-Ariz.) siblings believe he should be removed from Congress following his comments surrounding the 2020 election and U.S. Capitol riot on January 6, saying he is “a traitor to this country.”

Dave Gosar, a Wyoming attorney and Paul Gosar’s brother, told NBC News, “I consider him a traitor to this country. I consider him a traitor to his family.”

He added, “He doesn’t see it. He’s disgraced and dishonored himself.”

Touching on the riot and her brother’s language, Jennifer Gosar said, “I was concerned before.”

She continued, “I was horrified during, and I’m shocked that he’s not censured now, that there hasn’t been a process for expulsion. I mean, I think all the elements are clear. And maybe there’s something I’m missing, but they’re not acting on it to really allay any fears of the public.”

Jennifer Gosar also said she is “concerned there are leaders in the Democratic Party, there are leaders across ideologies who do not speak up.”

She went on, “I just can’t fathom it.”

Paul Gosar tweeted a photo of former President Donald Trump’s rally ahead of the riot and wrote, “Biden should concede. I want his concession on my desk tomorrow morning. Don’t make me come over there.”

NBC News notes three of Paul Gosar’s siblings, including Dave and Jennifer Gosar, contacted Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) asking for help to remove their brother from Congress.

According to the outlet, Dave Gosar believes his brother has not faced consequences because “of a lack of political will.”

“They’re trying to bury it just like they bury everything in the past,” he said, adding, “And I want to tell you if they think that’s going to fly this time, they’re sorely mistaken. … I think he should be removed from Congress, and they have the power to do it, no matter what they tell you.”

Earlier this month, he received criticism for suggesting a Capitol rioter was “executed” by a police officer, as IJR reported.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) tweeted, “It is disgusting and despicable to see Gosar lie about that day and smear the men and women who defended us.”

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) also tweeted, “You’re sick Paul, sadly.”

Jennifer Gosar appeared on “Anderson Cooper 360” to discuss her brother’s comments, as IJR reported.

“The convenience which Paul finds stories to fuel his anger, his hate and his bigotry. Does he believe it all? I think he probably doesn’t but it’s so convenient,” she said.

His sister claimed he is able to “fuel his rhetoric” with that.
