White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki appeared to misspeak when she claimed that Democrats “control all forms of branches” of government.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, Psaki noted that President Joe Biden believes the main drivers of inflation are the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“What the president’s done is taken steps to address both of those enormous challenges and try to put forward solutions to them,” she said.

Psaki continued, “We’ll leave it to the Federal Reserve, outside economists, inside economists, to make other projections on what’s next.”

Finally, she added, “As he noted today, he is the president. We do control all forms of branches of government. That’s why he laid out very clearly what he’ll continue to do as president to bring down prices.”

Earlier in the day, Biden was asked, “Why do you believe so many Americans believe that your administration is not doing enough to combat inflation? “

“The first is, we’re in power.  That’s the first thing. And you justifiably right [sic], we control all three branches of government,” he responded.

Biden continued, “Well, we don’t really. We have 50/50 in the Senate. You need 60 votes to get major things done.”

“I’ve been pushing the things I’ve been proposing here, as you’ve heard me speak to today, since I got in office. And I have — I need to get 60 votes to be able to even pass them,” he added.

Democrats control the House and narrowly control the Senate as Vice President Kamala Harris can cast the tie-breaking vote.

However, the two chambers of Congress make up the Legislative Branch of the government.

The third branch is the Judicial Branch.

The Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the land, has a 6-3 conservative majority.
