Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios threw a fit following a match at the U.S. open.

CNN noted that this could have been his first opportunity to win a grand slam.

He ultimately lost to Russia’s Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals.

After his loss, Kyrgios could be seen smashing his tennis racket repeatedly on the court.

He proceeded to pick another one up and throw it on the ground.

Kyrgios later told reporters he felt like “sh*t.”

He added, “I feel like I’ve let so many people down. These four tournaments [the grand slams] are the only ones that ever are going to matter. It’s just like you’ve got to start it all again. I have to wait till Australian Open. It’s just devastating. Like, it’s heartbreaking. Not just for me, but for everyone that I know that wants me to win.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that Kyrgios was fined $4,000 for his actions during his victory over Daniil Medvedev at the event.

He was reportedly fined for an audible obscenity.

Prior to that incident, Kyrgios was fined $7,500 after swearing and spitting during a match.

“Go home if you’re not going to f***ing support me,” he yelled at one point.

The player’s brother shared that he sometimes uses these rants toward his entourage to get himself pumped.

“That’s how he plays, that’s how he gets himself up,” Christos told Channel Nine.

He added, “He tries to increase his intensity and whatever else and that’s how he does it, and that’s what we know from him.”

Christos continued, “You need a pressure valve, right? And the pressure valve for him is, ‘Look, these people love me, I’m not saying anything to offend or to abuse them, but I just need to release some of that pressure, deflect a bit of that pressure so I can get back down to focusing on what I’m doing.'”
