“Saved By the Bell” and “90210” actress Tiffani Thiessen’s Halloween is going to the chickens.

Thiessen posted a video of her pet chickens “carving” a pumpkin after she outlined a jack-o-lantern face and placed it in their coop.

“We take Halloween decorating very seriously in this household. Even the chickens,” she wrote.

Thiessen, 49, recently shared her feathery friends’ love of pumpkins on the “Jennifer Hudson Show.”

She said, “My chickens love pumpkins.”

“So, generally, I do this thing where I start the carving of the pumpkin and then I let the chickens go at it,” she said.

Thiessen gives her chickens the leftover scraps, too. In addition to making a fun spooky scene, this also gives the clucky artists additional health benefits.

According to Happy Farm Yard, pumpkins offer chickens Vitamin A to support egg production, fiber to support digestion, antioxidants to prevent diseases, and minerals like iron, magnesium, zinc, and more to aid the immune system, regulate blood pressure, and promote bone health.

Caring for chickens is becoming a common trend as Americans are increasingly adopting their own flocks. Newsmax reported that the COVID-19 pandemic food shortages led masses of families to begin raising their own chicks.

Mark Podgwaite, head of the American Poultry Association, stated, “It just exploded. Whether folks wanted birds just for eggs or eggs and meat, it seemed to really, really take off.”

Chickens are easier to care for than common household pets and are considered a gateway animal to homesteading. Rooted noted that once people realize how low-maintenance caring for chickens is, the more they wish to expand home-grown efforts.

And Thiessen isn’t the only one celebrating Halloween with her chickens.

From the Copper Roof Coop account to the Hens and Honey Homestead, people are displaying videos that prove that these birds aren’t too chicken to enjoy Halloween.
