Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) husband, Paul Pelosi, has been charged following a car crash.
The district attorney’s office said in a statement, “The charges filed today include Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Injury and Driving With .08% Blood Alcohol Level or Higher Causing Injury.”
The statement continues, “Under California law, these charges can be filed as a misdemeanor or felony. Based upon the extent of the injuries suffered by the victim, the District Attorney filed misdemeanor charges. This decision is consistent with how our office handles these cases with similar injuries.”
According to the statement, “The punishment for driving under the influence causing injury as a misdemeanor is set by California law. It includes up to five years of probation, a minimum of five days in jail, installation of an ignition interlock device, fines and fees, completion of a court ordered drinking driver class, and other terms as appropriate.”

The New York Times reported on new details surrounding the crash.
The outlet explained, the night before the accident, Paul Pelosi “had been in Oakville, among the country’s most exclusive enclaves, leaving a small dinner at the hedgerow-lined estate of Alexander Mehran, a longtime friend and Democratic donor.”
The report continues, “Mr. Pelosi got behind the wheel of his black 2021 Porsche 911 to drive the six miles to the Pelosis’ Napa Valley country house. It was around 10 p.m., according to a police report and eyewitnesses.”
He then attempted to cross State Route 29 and make a left.
As Paul Pelosi made the turn, a jeep hit his car.
The Times noted two people who have spoken with the Pelosis since the crash said Paul Pelosi had cataract surgery in the days leading up to the dinner.
During an episode of his show, Fox News’s Jesse Watters suggested the Times piece was “spoon fed” to the outlet by Pelosi’s clean-up team.
He mentioned a section of the article detailing Paul Pelosi’s appearance.
The Times called him a “swaggering presence in the city’s society circuit at 6-foot-2, well dressed, with a full head of salt-and-pepper hair.”
