Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said President Joe Biden needs to “get out there” and spread his message more in response to low approval numbers.

During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with host Dana Bash, Pelosi described Biden as having done a “remarkable job” during his first two years as president, adding he just needs to “get out there” more and connect with the people.

“This president did such a remarkable job,” Pelosi told Bash on Sunday. “He is a person of such knowledge, such vision for the country. Such knowledge of the issues, such strategic thinking and such a legislator.”

Pelosi continued to tell Bash Biden was able to “connect with the American people” and his message just needed to get out there.

The response from Pelosi came after Bash had questioned why Biden’s poll numbers don’t reflect the recent data showing that inflation has dropped.

Last month, the data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed inflation went up 4% in May, a decline from 2022. This signified the lowest annual rate of inflation since March 2021. The Biden Administration has coined the term “Bidenomics” when trying to show that the economy is improving, more jobs are being created, and inflation is decreasing.

“It’s a busy job being president. I can say that as being speaker, you’re, you’re doing your work. But, he’s just going to have to make sure the American people know at that kitchen table, what this means to them in terms of jobs and pay, reducing inflation,” Pelosi said.

In July, a Reuters/Ipsos Core Political poll showed 54% of people disapproved of Biden’s job as president while 40% approve of his job performance.

A CNBC All-America Economic Survey showed that 37% of Americans approve of Biden’s job on the economy while 58% disapprove. A poll from Quinnipiac University in June showed Biden with an approval rating of 42% and a 54% disapproval rating.
