House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is wondering why President Donald Trump’s base continues to support him amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“I just do wonder how others can stand with him while he says the things he does in a way that they are accepting as truth,” Pelosi said.

She explained because Trump is not science or evidence-based, as she claims, he can say whatever he wants.

Watch Pelosi’s interview below:

“It’s one thing to not tell the truth, to convey falsehood after falsehood after falsehood,” Pelosi said. “But to do so so repetitively that people almost accept it as partially true eclipses the facts. So we have to insist on the truth.”

James Corden asked Pelosi why she thinks Trump continues to ignore scientists and science and continues to talk about reopening the country.

She responded by calling Trump’s initial approach and delays “dangerous.”

This is not the first time Pelosi has taken aim at Trump for his initial response to the pandemic.

Pelosi previously called Trump’s denial at the beginning and his approach to getting equipment to where it is necessary “deadly,” as IJR reported.

During the recent interview, she described how Trump has not reflected on the mistakes made in approaching the crisis.

“It doesn’t seem like he has any, shall we say, thoughtfulness about mistakes that have been made,” Pelosi said. “He keeps saying everything’s wonderful, but it isn’t.”

She noted experts are working around the clock to come up with a cure and vaccine. Pelosi acknowledged shelter-in-place and social distancing guidelines as answers to the problem.

According to Pelosi, making a decision to reopen the economy could be “dangerous” and lead to the coronavirus coming back into regions of the United States.

She called on Americans to voice their concerns so the nation can “be on the right track.”

“Let’s get on a good track,” Pelosi said. “I say to the people of faith, to the scientists, to the elected officials, to everyone, speak up, so that we can be on the right track.”
