Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shared how her husband, Paul Pelosi, is doing after he was attacked in their home last year.

During an interview with CNN’s Chris Wallace on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace” set to air on Sunday, Nancy Pelosi said her husband has “been out a bit because the doctor said he has to have something to look forward to, and so again, one day at a time.”

She added, “He had wounds and all the rest in that on his body. Those took time, but they healed. Tendons, you know all that stuff. But the head is a different thing.”

The former House Speaker noted “anyone who’s had a head injury knows that you have to be very careful.”

She continued, “You have to be careful about movement. You have to careful about light. You have to be careful about sound. And it just takes a while. You get very tired, but, you know, without going so further into it, but it takes, it will take probably another three or four months, according to the doctors, for him to be really himself.”

Additionally, Nancy Pelosi shared how the incident has made her feel.

“I feel very sad about it because of what happened, but also more sad because the person was searching for me,” Nancy Pelosi said. “My dear husband, who is not even that political actually, paid the price.”

Last month, the couple’s daughter shared how the incident has impacted their family as a whole, IJR previously reported.

“It’s day by day. It’s a very long recovery,” Alexandra Pelosi said during an appearance on “The View.”

According to her, it has “been very dark in our family.”

Paul Pelosi made his first appearance since the October attack in December at the Kennedy Center Honors.

Authorities previously said he was attacked with a hammer at the couple’s home in San Francisco by a male suspect.

Court documents show the suspect was searching for Nancy Pelosi.

David DePape was charged with six counts, including attempted murder, burglary, assault, false imprisonment and threatening the family member of a public official, CNN reported.
