Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) insists there should be no question about where Democrats stand on border security. During an interview on MSNBC, the California Democrat spoke about the negotiations over border security measures. "We've always been for controlling our border, for securing the border — there's never been a question about that," she insisted. Watch the video below: https://twitter.com/RNCResearch/status/1745443645107417514 The comment comes as President Joe Biden and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) held a conversation about border security. Johnson's spokesperson said the two spoke about a December letter the speaker sent to the president urging him to use executive authority to secure the border. As NBC News notes, "In the letter, Johnson urged Biden to take several steps to secure the border, including ending the policy that allows Customs and Border Protection to release migrants in the U.S. without court dates; denying entry or detaining undocumented immigrants at ports of entry; restricting parole, which allows the administration to temporarily admit some migrants; and pursuing agreements with other countries like Canada to take those seeking U.S. asylum." That conversation also happened amid a showdown over government funding with some House Republicans pushing to shutdown the government if there is not a deal to enact stricter border policies. December saw border officials process more than 300,000 migrants -- setting a new monthly record for the number of migrants crossing into the U.S. And as the crisis at the border has stretched on for three years, House Republicans held an impeachment hearing targeting Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
