On Wednesday, Speaker of the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced the impeachment managers who will be participating in the impeachment trial in the Senate and during a floor speech before the final impeachment vote, Pelosi responded icily to Republicans who criticized her for sitting on the articles of impeachment for weeks.

On the floor of the House, Pelosi said, “Don’t talk to me about my timing. For a long time, I resisted the calls from across the country for impeachment of the president for obvious violations of the Constitution that he had committed, but recognizing the divisiveness of impeachment, I held back. Frankly, I said, this president isn’t worth it.”

She continued, “But when he acted the way he did — in relationship to withholding funds from Ukraine in return for a benefit to him that was personal and political — he crossed a threshold. He gave us no choice.”

Watch the video below:

Pelosi, who has made a habit of referencing the founding fathers during her arguments for impeachment, gave her speech beside a photo of a waving American flag with the caption, “To the Republic for which it stands.”

The Speaker made her remarks after the House Minority Leader said, “Instead of sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial, Speaker Pelosi held them hostage in a failed play to gain leverage that she did not and would never have.”

But, of course, on the day before Pelosi announced her impeachment managers, there was another bombshell in the impeachment case. The House Intelligence Committee released documents from Lev Parnas that appeared to show Parnas was in communication with a Trump supporter named Robert Hyde surveilling the movements of Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, who testified in the impeachment trial.

Now the impeachment trial will go to the Senate where the Republican controlled chamber is expected to acquit the president as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has said they will coordinate with the White House.
