Congressman Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) is being ridiculed online after he tweeted out what appeared to be an image from a video game battle with the caption, “Been thinking about life and mortality today. I’d rather die gloriously in battle than from a virus. In a way it doesn’t matter. But it kinda does.”

Gosar was one of two elected officials — along with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) — who say that they encountered an individual with coronavirus at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference just outside Washington, D.C. Cruz has also quarantined himself.

Gosar said in a statement that he was “with the individual for an extended period of time, and we shook hands several times.”

But it seems that, while in quarantine, Gosar had dreams of battle. Here is the tweet that earned him ridicule:

There were plenty of people who considered it a bit hyperbolic and ridiculed it. ProPublica’s Jessica Huseman pointed out that Gosar is a dentist by trade, not some sort of medieval warrior.

Rather quickly the internet filled with people poking fun at Gosar’s grand ideations.

Or this bit of a squirrel readying for battle:

This is hardly the first time that Gosar has done something to draw a response. At one point, the Arizona congressman even tweeted out a cryptic message that read, “Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself.” On another occasion, he tweeted a doctored photo of President Barack Obama and the president of Iran.

Gosar and Cruz are the first members of Congress to self-quarantine but there is a likelihood that there will be more to come. There are reports of coronavirus incidents in Washington, D.C., with hundreds possibly exposed at a church in the city.
