Rand Paul Reacts to Attack on Paul Pelosi – Knocks House Speaker’s Daughter for Tweet About His Assault

WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 23: Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) talks with journalists as he leaves the U.S. Capitol after delivering a speech about the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act on the Senate floor on June 23, 2022 in Washington, DC. Earlier, Paul said he would introduce amendments to address what he considers "constitutional deficiencies" of the new bipartisan gun safety legislation, slowing down the process before a two-week Senate recess. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is condemning the assault on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) husband, Paul Pelosi.

In a tweet on Friday, Paul wrote, “No one deserves to be assaulted.”

“Unlike Nancy Pelosi’s daughter who celebrated my assault, I condemn this attack and wish Mr. Pelosi a speedy recovery,” he added.

“Early this morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi,” the speaker’s office said on Friday morning.

It continued, “The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation. Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery. The Speaker was not in San Francisco at the time.”

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott told reporters that law enforcement officers responded to a break-in at the Pelosi residence at 2:27 a.m.

He explained the suspect pulled a hammer from Paul Pelosi’s hands and “violently attacked” him.

Additionally, one source told the paper the suspect shouted, “Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?”

The suspect will be charged with attempted homicide.

The second part of Paul’s tweet refers to a comment from Christine Pelosi, the daughter of the House speaker, about an assault on the senator.

In 2017, the Kentucky senator’s neighbor tackled him and broke several of his ribs following a disagreement over lawn maintenance.

Two years later, Paul was rewarded $580,000 in damages and medical expenses.

And in Mar. 2020, he tested positive for COVID-19.

After the Kentucky senator’s announcement of his test result, Paul Kane, of The Washington Post, re-tweeted a statement from Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) revealing he would quarantine because he “sat next to Senator Paul for extended periods in recent days.”

“He told us the other day his biggest personal concern was not getting this because his wife has MS. Now he can’t see her for almost 2 weeks,” Kane wrote.

Christine Pelosi, the daughter of the House speaker, shared Kane’s tweet and wrote, “Rand Paul’s neighbor was right.”

Her tweet was later deleted.
