A pastor based in Auburn, Washington, urged Americans to trust in God above all else.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Pastor Jesse Bradley of Grace Community Church spoke about the meaning behind the phrase “In God We Trust,” which has been the official motto of the United States since 1956.

“Abiding with God goes beyond and is more valuable than money, technology and entertainment,” he shared.

Bradley continued, “The soul of a nation is the core, the essence and the deepest part of a country. Closeness with God is reflected and expressed in our relationships, the laws of the land, and morality.”

Additionally, he explained how Americans can cultivate a better relationship with God.

“Real trust is essential in a vibrant relationship with the living God, not merely lip service,” he said.

According to Study, the meaning behind “In God We Trust” indicates “that the political and economic prosperity of the nation is in God’s hands.”

However, Bradley alleged, “We have forsaken living water and created idols that can’t even hold water.”

“America needs to come to her senses and realize the goodness of God,” he declared.

Bradley also spoke about what the motto doesn’t represent.

”The motto doesn’t nullify the freedom to choose faith. Nothing is forced,” he told Fox News Digital.

He assured, “We are all equal before God. Religion does not make someone better than another person.”

Still, Bradley expressed his concerns over America’s spiritual condition.

He shared:

“I believe we are at a crossroads spiritually. God knows us completely and loves us perfectly. It’s good to have trust written on our currency, but what really matters is that it is written on our hearts.”

Bradley noted Americans have “wandered away from God in countless ways, including idolatry, materialism, pride and hatred.”

“May God have mercy on us in spite of our rebellion,” he said.
