Buckingham Palace made an announcement regarding whether Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, would attend King Charles’ upcoming coronation.

According to CNN, the palace released a statement on Wednesday, writing, “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th.”

However, officials revealed Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will remain at home in California with the couple’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

In March, Harry’s spokesperson confirmed to CNN that he did indeed receive an invitation to the anticipated ceremony but did not divulge whether the couple would actually attend at the time.

“I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation,” the spokesperson said. “An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

This came after Harry revealed shocking family drama in his autobiography “Spare” released on Jan. 10.

In his book, Harry claimed that in 2019, his brother, Prince William, called Markle “difficult,” “rude” and “abrasive.”

Harry also claimed that William spewed profanity at him which resulted in a physical altercation between the two brothers.

He stated:

“He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

In a sit-down interview with “Good Morning America” co-host Michael Strahan, which aired on Jan. 9, Harry shared what he believed his late mother, Princess Diana, would feel over the fallout.

“I think she would be sad,” he said. “I think she’d be looking at it long term to know that there are certain things that we need to go through to be able to heal the relationship.”
