A powerful east coast storm cut off power to over 100,000 Americans early Monday morning.
According to the New York Post, 55,000 people were without power in New York, 51,000 people lost power in New Jersey, and 82,000 suffered from outages in Connecticut.
Winds up to 55 mph accompanied the storm and a flood watch was issued to remain in effect throughout Monday until 6 p.m. in New York.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul posted on X, formerly Twitter, about the storm early Monday, stating, “Heavy rain [and] high winds are continuing to impact the Hudson Valley, New York City, [and] Long Island.”

Fox Weather posted footage of flooding in Brooklyn and “Today” posted that 59 million people were impacted by the storm, which worked its way up the East coast.

The Herald Diary also shared video footage of flooding in South Carolina. The outlet reported, “Perilous flooding struck the Charleston, South Carolina, area on Sunday as a formidable storm system advanced northward along the East Coast.”

The NYS Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services posted a warning in response to a New York State Thruway Authority message regarding flooding in the lower Hudson Valley.
There are several road closures due to flooding throughout the state today. Please avoid travel if you can and remember to never drive on flooded roads.
