Obama’s Half-Brother Reveals His Endorsement for a Republican Candidate

President Barack Obama's Kenyan half brother, Malik Obama speaks at an interview January 16, 2013 at the peaceful hamlet of Nyang'oma in Kogelo renowned as the Obama's traditional home. Malik has launched his own political career by announcing his intention to run for a Kenyan gubernatorial seat in the upcoming March 4 general elections. Malik, 54, who shares a father with the US president told AFP that the achievements of his more famous half brother have "inspired and challenged" him to get into active politics in his homeland. The trained economist said he is the right candidate to deal with the "endless cycle of poverty and unemployment that bedevils my people." . Former President Barack Obama’s half-brother, Malik Obama, shared he is endorsing a Republican candidate in Pennsylvania’s governor race.

Political commentator Jack Posobiec tweeted, “Hey [Obama Malik] I think you would like [Doug Mastriano]. Check him out my dude.”

Malik Obama replied, “If he’s with President Trump then I’m with [Doug Mastriano] Pennsylvania Senator PA District 33.”

In 2016, Malik Obama announced he would vote for former President Donald Trump.

“He appeals to me and also I think that he is down to earth and he speaks from the heart and he is not trying to be politically correct. He’s just straight-forward,” he told Reuters at the time.

Commenting on Trump’s position on Muslims, Malik Obama explained, “I’m a Muslim, of course, but you can’t have people going around just shooting people and killing people just in the name of Islam.”

The outlet noted he has previously criticized his half-brother.

“To each his own. I speak my mind and I’m not going to be put in a box just because my brother is the President of the United States,” Malik Obama said.

Additionally, Malik Obama spoke with The New York Post about why his “deep disappointment” in his brother’s administration led him to switch to “the party of Lincoln.”

According to Malik Obama, the moment came when FBI Director James Comey recommended not prosecuting Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over the issue of her private email server, as the Post reported.

“She should have known better as the custodian of classified information,” Malik Obama said.

He also expressed his support for the Republican Party over its position on same-sex marriage.

“I feel like a Republican now because they don’t stand for same-sex marriage, and that appeals to me,” Malik Obama told the Post.

Trump invited Malik Obama to attend the final presidential debate in 2016.

“I look very much forward to meeting and being with Malik,” Trump said. “He gets it far better than his brother.”

The Washington Post pointed out Malik Obama was his brother’s best man when he married Michelle.

The former president also stood in at the same position during one of Malik’s weddings.
