Former President Barack Obama got blasted for his attempt to tie George Floyd’s murder to a school shooting.

“As we grieve the children of Uvalde today, we should take time to recognize that two years have passed since the murder of George Floyd under the knee of a police officer. His killing stays with us all to this day, especially those who loved him,” Obama tweeted.

He added, “In the aftermath of his murder, a new generation of activists rose up to channel their anguish into organized action, launching a movement to raise awareness of systemic racism and the need for criminal justice and police reform.”

Obama’s comments were met with harsh criticism from several.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh responded, “George Floyd was a violent criminal lowlife hopped up on fentanyl. The fact that you would compare his death to the slaughter of 20 children is just incomprehensible. My God you are a vile man.”

Obama has crossed the line. Don’t make this recent tragedy about George Floyd. Disgusting pic.twitter.com/q8wJdstPXW

Beto: How can I make a total ass of myself today trying to politicize a tragic event?

Obama: Hold my beer. https://t.co/XFCwFJyCgh

Earlier this week, a gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Texas.

Fox News pointed out the shooting happened one day before the two-year anniversary of George Floyd’s death.

The president called for more action, saying, “As a nation, we have to ask, ‘When in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?'”

He added, “When in God’s name are we going to do what has to be done? Why are we willing to live with this carnage?”

Biden continued, “We have to act.”
