During Wednesday night town hall, he addressed the issue, according to the New York Post.

He referenced there has been “no support” from the Biden administration and said, “I’m gonna tell you something, New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this.”

“This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City,” Adams, a Democrat, went on.

“Month after month I stood up and said this is gonna come to a neighborhood near you. Well, we’re here, we’re getting no support on this national crisis, and we’re receiving no support,” he added.

Adams also blamed Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott for sending busloads of migrants to the sanctuary city.

He said, “Started with a madman down in Texas who decided he wanted to bus people up to New York City.”

“Now we’re getting Western Africa, now we’re getting people from all over the globe that made their minds up that they’re gonna come through the southern border and coming to New York City.”

In May, Adams sought to revoke New York’s sanctuary city status, per the Post Millennial.

He stated, “The law of sanctuary city was in place long before I became mayor. I’m following the law. As a law enforcement person, you know, we follow the law.”

“We are now in court now, today, asking the judge to revisit this law to deal with this humanitarian crisis because, even when they decided to put in place that law, no one thought they would be dealing with a humanitarian crisis of this proportion,” he concluded.

According to NBC News, a record-breaking 2.76 million illegal immigrants crossed the southern border in 2022, and last month topped the record for illegal immigrants entering the U.S. in a month, via the New York Times.
