New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is facing criticism after acknowledging the border crisis and stating that the city has “no more room” for asylum seekers.

Fox News reported he made the statement during a press conference in El Paso, Texas, Sunday.

He said, “We have to give people accurate information, and that is what some of the centers are doing here.”

“New York, you go there, you are going to be living in congregate settings, that there is no more room in New York,” he added.

Adams also stated that illegal immigrants come to the U.S. believing that, “all the resources available.”

He called the situation a “national problem” and called on the federal government stating, “We’ve done our job. Now it’s time for the national government to do its job.”

New York City is a sanctuary city, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. This means that it has policies in place that contradict immigration enforcement and ICE operations.

Adams also spoke out against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) when he decided to bus illegal immigrants to New York last August, per Politico.

Now Adams is acknowledging the challenges of the border crisis, and is calling for federal aid.

This has led Twitter users to criticize him for his city’s support of preventing federal law enforcement from detaining illegal immigrants.

Political commentator Savanah Hernandez tweeted about this Thursday stating, “Eric Adams declared New York a sanctuary city, keep sending them.”

Forcing liberals to live with the consequences of their own actions is the only way to open their eyes to how stupid their policies are in the real world https://t.co/MlNQACNRCh
