After the game, an ESPN reporter interviewed Hopkins.

When asked how he was able to perform in the wake of his injury, Hopkins replied, “I just want to say thank you to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I’ve got so much to be thankful for apart from football.”

He continued, “So when something like this happens, I’m blessed either way.”

Los Angeles Chargers coach Brandon Staley explained Hopkins’ hamstring began to loosen up during the second half of the game, according to The Associated Press.

“You can’t say enough about him hanging in there,” Staley said.

He added, “At the end we had no choice. We were going to kick no matter what.”

The outlet pointed out Hopkins’ game-winning field goal in overtime was the first of his career.

Denver coach Nathaniel Hackett explained, “This is very disappointing.”

He continued, “We had some opportunities there, and we’ve got to execute at a higher level. We’ve got to come up with some better plays.”
