MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ Brushes Off Concerns About Biden’s Age Because He Is ‘Fit and Trim’ Compared to Trump

The co-hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” are must going to great lengths to argue President Joe Biden is actually more fit and healthy than his younger opponent.

During an segment on Monday, co-host Joe Scarborough argued former President Donald Trump has a lot weighing on him “plus eight, nine years of age.”

“And he’s not healthy. You look at Joe Biden, he exercises every day. You look how fit and trim he is. People are obsessed with how he walks…” he continued.

Meanwhile co-host Mika Brzezinski chimed in, “He has a stutter. And he’s had it for decades, he’s had it for decades.”

“And while he is older — and he should own that and he should joke about it and he should address it — I think we’re at a point where for Trumpers on Fox News, for the MAGA Right, for Donald Trump himself, they’re at an inflection point for making fun of Joe Biden’s age, for making it an issue. But it’s actually coming back to haunt them in a really big way as Donald Trump gets on stage time and time again and has these weird moments that are scary,” she added.

The exchange comes after Trump made a series of gaffes during a campaign appearance. And look, there are some things that Trump does that make him look old and voters should make an assessment about whether he, at 77, is up for another four years in the White House. And yes, by looking at Biden’s weight, he looks more fit than the former president.

But this is such a stretch.

The “he has a stutter” line is back — apparently. However, a stutter doesn’t explain him confusing Egypt and Mexico, or reading from a note card about the situation in Gaza and saying the U.S. is airdropping aid into Ukraine, or saying he spoke to world leaders who have been dead for years, or having to use short stairs to board Air Force One so he doesn’t trip — which still are not Biden-proof.

To argue that because Biden is not overweight and exercises every day means he is more fit than Trump is approaching propaganda like you would see in North Korea.

Sure, he might exercise frequently which probably helps him be able to walk and retain his faculties. But it is not as though that exercise translate into some kind of vigor that shows he is up for job.

To the contrary, Americans see him appearing to struggle with the most basic life functions like walking or talking on a near-daily basis. And it is absolutely ridiculous to argue he is more “fit” than Trump.
