President Donald Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen has become a fixture in the news cycle as he published a tell-all book about his time as one of Trump’s closest allies.

One of Cohen’s duties in his role under Trump was to solve problems for the president — that duty later sent him to prison for campaign finance violations stemming from hush money payments that he orchestrated to an adult film star with the stage name Stormy Daniels.

Trump allegedly had an affair with Daniels in 2006, just after he married now-First Lady Melania Trump.

During an appearance on ‘The View’ on Monday, Cohen said that he feels he owes Daniels an apology.

Co-host Meghan McCain told Cohen, “After the story broke, you were horrible to her … This is a woman that I think has been mistreated by the media and did nothing wrong. Don’t you think you owe her an apology instead of continuing to slander her?”

Cohen responded, “The answer is yes, I owe her and the country an apology for what I did. I also owe the First Lady an apology for lying to her. But I did it all at the direction of and for the benefit of Donald J. Trump. That was part of my job and it’s not something that I’m proud of.”

But he went on to defend himself, saying, “I’m not the one that ended up fully brokering the deal. It was between myself and her lawyer and she’s the one who determined how much money she wanted. So there were many lies that were told about me.”

Moments later, he added, “I don’t want to hurt anybody. I did it because it was my job. I did it because I was directed to do it and I did it for the benefit of Mr. Trump, who at that time was only days away from the election. So, yes, I do owe her an apology, Meghan.”

Cohen has been blasted by Trump since turning on the president, but Cohen doesn’t intend to leave the spotlight any time soon. He recently announced that he’s launching a podcast about Trump.

In teasing his podcast, Cohen wrote, “Only I can give you an insider POV into the most divisive and dangerous mind in American history.”
