Co-host of “The View” Meghan McCain confronted Dr. Mary Trump, niece of President Donald Trump, on her new book, “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.”

McCain accused Mary Trump of publishing the book for her own personal gain.

“What do you say to people like me, who think this is just a great way for you to get a paycheck right now?” McCain asked Mary Trump.

Mary Trump argued she brings her “very deep experience” within the family and she is not “some stranger” writing it.

McCain challenged Mary Trump on her relationship she has with White House senior adviser and daughter of the president, Ivanka Trump, and suggested she may not know the dynamics of the immediate family in the way she presents it.

Mary Trump claimed she is not extended family and went on to argue she would have written the book years ago if she wanted to reap the financial benefits.

“If I had wanted some measure of revenge, if I had wanted to cash in, as you say, I would have done this ten years ago when Donald was still a very public figure and I would not have been taking the risk that I’m taking,” Mary Trump said.

She added, “We’ve all seen how whistle-blowers fare in this administration. So I would much have preferred not to do this, but I felt it was extremely important that the American people have all of the information they need in order to make an informed decision.”

Mary Trump’s book has reportedly sold 1.35 million copies in its first week.

During an exclusive interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on July 15, Mary Trump called on the president to resign, as IJR previously reported.

Just three days later, President Trump issued a series of tweets attacking Mary Trump describing her as “a mess.”
