Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is pledging that if President Donald Trump decides to run again in 2024, the party will not put its thumb on the scale during the primary process.

McDaniel, who is running for a third term as the RNC chairwoman, said in a statement on Monday, “President Trump received nearly 75 million votes, more than any sitting president in history. He’s the one our party wants to hear from right now.”

“But, I will continue to ensure the RNC remains completely neutral in competitive Republican primaries as long as I am chair. This is a policy President Trump wants to continue as well,” she added.

President-elect Joe Biden officially secured the required number of electoral votes to clinch the presidency. However, Trump has refused to concede and has instead made false claims that the election was rigged or stolen from him.

While he has not conceded, Trump has hinted that he may run for reelection in 2024, as IJR reported.

Speaking to supporters during a Christmas party at the White House on Tuesday, Trump said, “It’s been an amazing four years. We are trying to do another four years. Otherwise, I’ll see you in four years.”

Speculation about a potential 2024 has the potential to at least temporarily delay other Republican presidential hopefuls’ efforts to launch their bids over concerns he may lash out at them.

However, some aides say it is unlikely that Trump, who would be 78 in 2024, would actually run again.
