“The View’s” Meghan McCain and Whoopi Goldberg apparently got two different responses — or one got no response at all — from the White House, according to a report. However, the White House is hitting down that claim.

“It’s a tale of two ‘View’ hosts,” as Politico’s Playbook reporters write.

According to Politico, McCain was apparently “snubbed” by the White House. When trying to reach out to the White House in an effort to help speak to Republicans about getting the COVID-19 vaccine, McCain “got crickets in response.”

McCain wanted to get vaccinated with her brother Jimmy McCain on air and “wanted to be in sync with the Biden administration on its vaccination efforts before airing such a segment,” Politico notes.

A “View” insider told Politico that McCain “just wanted to help with messaging and encouraging Republicans to get it, and the show wanted it too.”

However, Goldberg reportedly received a response — getting a private briefing with the White House “to go over vaccination messaging and talking points for the show,” the news outlet reports.

The “View” insider also said, “They should have given all of ‘The View’ hosts this training, not just Whoopi.”

It is reported that previously the White House was planning to have McCain and Goldberg, as well with a senior administration official, vaccinated on air but there were scheduling conflicts so that never occurred.

A White House official told Politico that the reason McCain did not get briefed was “due to the fact that McCain was not eligible at the time to be vaccinated, but that was not relayed to McCain,” the news outlet reports.

“There was no ‘snub’ or ‘VIP treatment'”

As Mediaite reports:

“According to White House sources, though, there was no ‘snub’ or ‘VIP treatment’ or anything of the sort, and Politico was told this but did not include it in their reporting.

McCain’s outreach came in early March, and the White House did respond through McCain’s representatives to say that she was not eligible for the vaccine. But crucially, the White House told The View that they would be happy to include McCain once she became eligible.”

“Of course we want conservatives to get vaccinated,” a White House source told Mediaite, adding, “She literally couldn’t do it because she was not eligible, and by the time that they wanted to do it, The View had moved on.”

Additionally, Goldberg’s interaction with the White House was apparently conducted by a virtual call, and McCain nor her representatives reportedly never reached out to make such a request, according to Mediate.
