The autopsy for actor Matthew Perry has been completed following his tragic death.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to People that Perry’s autopsy is finished and “results are pending a toxicology report, which can take weeks to come through.”

An online report has the “Friends” star’s cause of death currently listed as “deferred” due to a “pending additional investigation.”

Additionally, People confirmed “foul play is not suspected at this time” through the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division handling Perry’s death investigation. The Homicide Division declined to comment on whether any evidence was recovered at the scene where Perry died as “the investigation is ongoing.”

On Oct. 28, TMZ reported Perry was found dead in his hot tub at his Los Angeles home following an apparent drowning. He was 54 years old.

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to People that first responders arrived at the actor’s home at 4:07 p.m.

“An adult male patient was deceased prior to first response arrival. The patient was found by a bystander who had repositioned the victim where the head was out of water” while in the freestanding jacuzzi,” an LAFD spokesperson revealed to the outlet.

The spokesperson also shared, “Firefighters pulled the victim out of the jacuzzi and did a quick medical assessment to find he was deceased.”

Following the news of his passing, Perry’s family issued a statement.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love,” they said, per People.

In October 2022, Perry spoke to People about his memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” where he openly talked about his battle with addiction to drugs and alcohol. Perry’s addiction involved taking 55 Vicodin a day at one point.

In the interview, Perry recalled an experience he had with God after he quit drinking alcohol.

“It was this bright yellow object that became all-encompassing. I couldn’t see the kitchen anymore. It was just this light, and I felt loved and understood, and in the company of God or whatever,” he recalled.

He continued, “My dad was right next to me, and we were holding hands and I was praying when it started, which is something I rarely did. It was like God showed me what’s possible.”

“And then said, ‘Okay. Now you go learn this,'” Perry added.
