Mary Trump claims her uncle, President Donald Trump, cannot admit that he lost the presidential election and that he will try to undermine Americans’ trust in government institutions in response to the outcome of the election.
She told co-hosts of “The View” on Thursday that it is “impossible” for her uncle to “believe that he lost.”
She explained:
“He’s lost before in his life. But, he’s never had to be in a situation in which he can’t somehow turn that loss into a win either through cheating or buying his way out of a jam, or using somebody else’s connections in power. There’s literally nothing he can do about this.”
“So, it’s sort of unfathomable because in my family, losing was literally the worst thing you could do. So it’s putting enormous amounts of pressure on him,” she added.
She went on to claim the president “can’t admit” that he lost the election because “that would suggest that there’s no way for him to get out of this mess.”
“So, he’s going to continue to undermine peoples’ faith in our government and our institutions. And again, it’s just another 48 days he has to keep, you know, taking a wrecking ball to the United States government,” she said.
Co-host Joy Behar noted that Mary Trump claimed the president’s actions are hurting himself and asked, “How is he hurting himself, in your mind?”
“Well, he’s making himself look like a sore loser. He’s behaving like an immature bully who the only thing he has left right now is his grievance,” she responded.
Additionally, she said his actions would “increase his irrelevance” after President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in. She also said it “increases the urgency for holding him accountable when he no longer has the protection of the oval office.”

While news outlets started to call the election for Biden on November 7, Trump has refused to concede the election and has continued to make baseless allegations of widespread fraud in the election.
Despite the president’s claims that there is plenty of evidence of fraud, Attorney General William Barr told the Associated Press on Tuesday, that the Department of Justice has not yet seen evidence to support his allegations.
Mary Trump has been a fierce critic of her uncle and previously said his decision to not work with Biden’s team to facilitate the presidential transition process is “criminal.”
“It’s despicable. It’s criminal. And the Republicans need to be held accountable just as much as Donald does at this point,” she said.
Just days after her comments, the Trump administration officially decided to allow Biden to begin the transition process.
However, there were concerns that a shortened transition process could pose a national security risk.
