LSU football players showed off innovative air-conditioned headgear for the 2023 college season.
The Louisiana State University football team, LSU Tigers, will beat the heat this year with new helmets made with built-in air-conditioning units, according to Fox News.
On June 1, The Checkdown posted a brief video on Twitter of LSU football players giving their stamp of approval as they each tested out the high-tech helmets.
Zack Nagy, publisher of LSU Country “covering Tiger football” also approved of the headgear on his Twitter page.
“[Louisiana State University] continues going above and beyond to ensure elite on-field performance. Utilizing advancements in helmet technology is another piece this program has added,” he wrote in the caption of several videos showing off the gear.

The helmets, created by Tigeraire, will be empowered by a battery system that air conditions with a “five-hour lifespan before it needs to be recharged” and will likely last up to four years before the equipment needs to be replaced.
In each helmet, players can customize the temperature of the air dispensed inside. They will also have the option to have the cool air directly hit their forehead, or opt for it to “pump down toward their nose and mouth.”
The helmet will also encompass a “defogging mechanism” once a visor is applied to the helmet.
According to their official website, Tigeraire, founded in 2020, “delivers revolutionary airflow acceleration technology for hard hats and football helmets.”
“Our patented, airflow technology helps provide better PERFORMANCE, ENDURANCE, FOCUS, PROTECTION, and COMFORT. Stay cool on the job and perform at your highest level,” the description continues.
In a statement by Jack Karavich, Tigeraire founder, gave his thoughts on the invention.
“Having the opportunity to develop this technology together with some of the most elite college football players and their expert staff has led us to valuable insights that will rapidly extend our reach into a broad set of helmet-based sports,” he said.
According to the LSU 2023 football schedule, the team will also play in other warm states such as Florida, Mississippi, and Alabama.Â
