Openly gay rapper Lil Nas X was slammed for mocking Christ following the release of a new music video with religious imagery.

On Thursday, Lil Nas X, 24, posted a clip from his newly released music video for his song “J Christ.”

Users on Instagram were outraged over the music video where he is seen hanging from a cross like Jesus Christ. In one scene, the “Old Town Road” singer is seemingly playing basketball against a character portraying Satan.

“Don’t mock God,” one user wrote.

Another user referenced the Bible verse Luke 23:24.

“Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they’re doing…,'” the user shared.

Another user told Lil Nas X he would “regret this in the long run.”

“Mocking Jesus like that is sick and so disrespectful. Even if you don’t believe in Jesus don’t disrespect him, have respect for others beliefs,” one user stated.

One user urged the rapper to “repent” and said the music video was not “good.”

“If you don’t, you’ll see the WRATH of God. Woe unto you who do and agree with these things,” the user continued.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Christian rapper Byron Gray spoke out against Lil Nas X’s for his new single before its release.

MY NEW SINGLE IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO HAD THE GREATEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME!

“My thoughts on this is that I believe Lil Nas X is potentially a reprobate as described in Romans 1. I think that he is mocking Christianity. He is mocking Christ,” Gray asserted.

He continued, “That’s why he uses Christian imagery to do it. He’s doing it with the goal to mock us because that’s how he gets his clicks.”

Gray also said he doesn’t “care if he gets the clicks about Christians reacting” because he wanted “to see more Christians reacting.”

On Nov. 29, Lil Nas X announced he was entering into his “Christian era” on X, formerly known as Twitter, in the caption of a viral video previewing his new faith-based song.
