As presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden narrows in on his vice presidential pick, there is no shortage of people voicing their opinion on who he should choose.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) says that she will be “highly supportive” of whoever Biden picks to be his running mate, and he has a large pool of impressive contenders to choose from.

During an interview on CNN on Monday, Klobuchar was asked her previous comments on Biden’s vice presidential search process, where she shared her belief that Biden should choose a woman of color to be his running mate.

CNN’s Poppy Harlow noted that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) recently met with Biden, and asked, “What do you think, senator, an all-white ticket would say about the Democratic Party right now?”

“You know, Poppy, Joe Biden is going to pick the best person for that job. And there are so many incredibly qualified women — including the governor of Michigan — they are all qualified,” Klobuchar responded.

She continued, “What I was trying to capture here was that this is a historic moment. It’s a historic moment because what’s been going on in our country — not just with George Floyd out of my state — but also with how we’ve seen so many African Americans, immigrant workers that have been hit so hard by this pandemic in outrageous numbers.”

“I can tell you, I think whoever he picks with the group he’s got, I will be highly supportive,” she added.

Finally, Klobuchar was pressed on whether she still believes Biden should pick a woman of color to be his running mate.

She said, “I do. But, in the same breath, I said no matter who he picks, I will be supportive because he will pick the right person. And every single one of those women that he is considering right now are very good and would do an excellent job.”

Biden is expected to announce his running mate this week. He has previously vowed to choose a female running mate but has not promised that he would choose a woman of color.

Some of the reported candidates on his shortlist include Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), and former National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

He also met with Whitmer at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, reportedly his first in-person meeting with a vice-presidential contender.
