Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) is not pleased with President Donald Trump’s immediate criticism of Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

During an appearance on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Klobuchar explained “what leaders do,” as she criticized the president’s public bashing of Harris.

“For the president to go before the country like he just did and not just say, ‘I congratulate her, we welcome her to the race,’ that’s what leaders do,” Klobuchar said on Tuesday.

She continued, “Instead, what did he do? He called her angry, he called her nasty, he went back to those same criticisms those words we have heard him use against women throughout this presidency. And I just think that’s crap. I think that is not a nice way to treat someone when they enter the race.”

See Klobuchar’s remarks below:

As I told @BretBaier on Fox News, Donald Trump went before the country & called @KamalaHarris "nasty." I think that’s crap.

As someone who knows @KamalaHarris, I would use the words "tough," "grit" & "strength" to describe her.

Klobuchar’s remarks came just hours after Trump lambasted Harris during a press conference. When asked about Biden’s vice-presidential pick, Trump immediately condemned his decision.

“I was a little surprised that he picked her,” Trump said during the press White House press conference on Tuesday, adding that “she did very poorly in the primaries.”

Trump continued, “She was extraordinarily nasty to Kavanaugh, Judge Kavanaugh then now Justice Kavanaugh. She was nasty to a level that was just a horrible thing, the way she treated now-Justice Kavanaugh. And I won’t forget that.”

Despite Trump’s latest criticism of Harris, previous campaign donation records indicate he has been a longtime supporter of the California senator.

According to reports, Trump donated to Harris in 2011 and 2013 as she campaigned for California attorney general. His daughter Ivanka Trump also donated to Harris in 2014.

NBC News: According to California state records, President Trump — while a private citizen — twice donated to Kamala Harris while she was a candidate for state AG.

A total of $6,000 in 2011 and 2013 combined.
