Former Democratic presidential hopeful Amy Klobuchar says her husband has tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a tweet on Monday morning, the Minnesota senator said, “My husband has coronavirus. I love him [and] not being able to be by his side is one of the hardest things about this disease.”

My husband has coronavirus. I love him & not being able to be by his side is one of the hardest things about this disease. So many are going through this & much worse. I pray for him & you & meanwhile I will do all I can to get help to the American people.https://t.co/fqQU6tA29r pic.twitter.com/SjyfdQxe1R

In a blog post on Medium, Klobuchar continued to say that since she has not been in direct contact with her husband for two weeks, her doctor said she did not need to be tested for the virus.

“My doctor has advised me to not get a test. As everyone is aware, there are test shortages for people who need them everywhere, and I don’t qualify to get one under any standard.”

During the campaign, Klobuchar slammed President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus.

At the Democratic primary debate in South Carolina in February, Klobuchar said that Trump has “not invested like he should have” and suggested that Trump should address the nation about the outbreak.

Additionally, during a Fox News town hall, she slammed Trump for proposed his budget cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and appeared to suggest that Trump had silenced medical professionals from sharing information about the virus.

“I believe in science, I believe in not silencing health professionals,” she said.

However, Dr. Anthony Fauci — the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the coronavirus task force — denied that he had been “muzzled.”

Klobuchar suspended her presidential campaign and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden who has been critical of Trump’s handling of the outbreak.

Biden recently announced he would hold his own briefings on the outbreak to counteract what he says is false information coming from the Trump administration about the virus.
