Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) is advising Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) to stay away from “aging well” tweets.

Gaetz reacted to remarks Kinzinger made in February responding to his claim Republicans had enough votes to remove Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from leadership over her criticism of former President Donald Trump.

“No we voted. You were just wrong by like, a huuuuuge margin,” Kinzinger tweeted on February 3.

Gaetz responded on Tuesday, “Tweets that don’t age well.”

Kinzinger then warned him, “I’d stay away from ‘aging well’ tweets,” seemingly pointing to allegations of sexual misconduct against Gaetz.

The New York Times reported in March that Gaetz is being investigated by the Justice Department over “whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him,” as the Times reports.

Gaetz did confirm he is under investigation, but denied the allegations.

In April, Kinzinger tweeted, “Matt Gaetz needs to resign.”

Cheney commented on the allegations during a CBS interview in April, “As the mother of daughters, the charges certainly are sickening. And as the speaker noted, there’s an ethics investigation underway, there are also criminal investigations underway, and I’m not going to comment on that further publicly right now.”

House Republicans ousted Cheney from her leadership position on Wednesday, as IJR reported.

Following the vote, Cheney said, “I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office.”

The former president wrote in a statement, “Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being. I look forward to soon watching her as a Paid Contributor on CNN or MSDNC!”
