Kim Kardashian is calling for the father of a girl killed in the Uvalde, Texas, shooting to be temporarily released from prison.

On Thursday, Kardashian tweeted, “This is Eliahana ‘Ellie’ Cruz Torres, 10 years old, and one of the 19 victims of the shooting in Uvalde, TX.”

She explained, “Her family are desperately hoping that her father, who is incarcerated for a non violent drug offense, be granted temporary release so that he can attend her funeral.”

According to Kardashian, “So far their requests have been denied.”

She continued, “I ask the [Bureau of Prisons] to grant Eli Torres temporary release so that he can say his last goodbye to his baby girl. Every parent deserves that right.”

“Today” reported her father is an inmate at McCreary U.S. Penitentiary in Pine Knot, Kentucky.

He was convicted in 2013 of drug trafficking and conspiracy.

Eli Torres was then sentenced to 20 years in federal prison, as the outlet noted.

Federal prison documents show he is expected to be released in February 2033.

He told the Houston Chronicle, “The choices I made, it cost me.”

Eli Torres added, “I could have prevented this from happening, somehow, some way, as a father. … I could have stopped it somehow. Protected her.”

Additionally, he told the Chronicle, “The days and nights, they’re dark,” adding, “I can’t see no light.”

“Today” pointed out Eli Torres requested a compassionate temporary release so he could attend his daughter’s funeral.

The request was denied.

A representative from the Federal Bureau of Prisons told TODAY Parents in a statement, “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not provide information on any individual inmate’s conditions of confinement, to include a request for temporary release.”

Last week, a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School, killing 19 children and two adults.
