Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) would support former President Donald Trump if he ran in the 2024 presidential election — despite previous criticism from the former president.

When asked if Trump is the Republican Party nominee in the 2024 election if he would support the former president, Kemp responded during a Fox News appearance Wednesday, “Absolutely.”

“I’m going to support the nominee, as I said again, I worked very hard for the president,” Kemp said, adding, “I think the president deserves a lot of credit and he’s not going away.”

Trump repeatedly attacked Brian Kemp for not working to overturn the election results for him, called for his resignation and even gave a speech in Georgia saying he'd campaign against him, but here's Kemp just now on Fox News saying he'd support Trump in 2024 anyway pic.twitter.com/NN5z9aYalr

Kemp previously indicated that despite coming under fire from Trump, he would love the former president’s support, as IJR reported.

“I’d love to have his support,” Kemp said during an ABC News interview in late January, before adding that he is “going to run on a record.”

The Georgia governor also said Trump and he “agree on much more than we disagree.”

Kemp found himself under attack by Trump over the 2020 presidential election.

Trump said he was “ashamed” to have endorsed Kemp during his run for governor in 2018. Kemp has also dismissed Trump’s previous call to resign. Trump accused Kemp of mismanaging the 2020 presidential election.

Georgia’s Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan (R) previously slammed efforts to overturn the election, as IJR reported.

“These folks that are trying to figure out ways to flip the election with misinformation is not democracy, it’s not American, I don’t support it,” Duncan said. “And I certainly encourage everybody listening here not to support any sort of misinformation campaign to just flip an election.”
