The debate over First Lady Jill Biden’s academic title appears to have been revived.
On Sunday, Biden attended the NFC championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers.
At one point, the game’s announcer noted her attendance as he said, “First Lady Dr. Jill Biden taking in the game with the commissioner Roger Goodell.”

Journalist Megyn Kelly shared her disagreement with labeling Biden a doctor despite her receiving a doctorate in education.
“Announcers for this Eagles-49ers game just spotted the First Lady in a box and of course call her ‘Dr. Jill Biden,'” Kelly wrote.
She added, “Wonder if she realizes what a wannabe she looks like insisting on this fake title. Get a real MD or just work on your self-esteem.”

Politico’s Josh Gerstein shared a screenshot from 11 years ago from Kelly’s show on Fox News when she spoke with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
The chyron on the screen read, “Dr. Henry Kissinger talks about crisis in Libya.”

Temple University professor Marc Lamont Hill wrote, “What a strange stance to take, Megyn. Jill Biden holds an earned doctorate. Why shouldn’t she be permitted to use it? Kelly’s comments come two years after an opinion writer sparked outrage by penning a column in The Wall Street Journal arguing Biden should stop using the title “Dr.”
