Since early October, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has been juggling her role on Pennsylvania Avenue with a senior advisor role on President Donald Trump’s campaign.

During a Wednesday “Fox & Friends interview,” McEnany (appearing on behalf of the campaign) tried to sidestep questions about the president’s potential flirtations with a 2024 bid.

Asked by the “Fox & Friends” hosts about a Trump Campaign email polling supporters on whether they believe Trump should run in 2024, McEnany said, “I think they are just putting out that thought. They’re still focused, the campaign is still on 2020.”

Reminded that she is a spokesperson for the campaign during the interview, McEnany said, Trump is “still focused on 2020.”

She added, “He’s the leader of this movement, no matter what happens in 2020, 2024 is there for his taking.”

“His base is strong, they’re not going away,” she continued. “The forgotten men and women are forgotten no longer because they’ve had four years of President Trump, hopefully, four more. But 2024, it’s there if President Trump would like it.”

Trump began teasing a potential 2024 Oval Office bid soon after his election loss to President-elect Joe Biden. And though he still seems focused on overturning his 2020 defeat, the president has made overtures of a 2024 run.

Trump recently told guests at the White House Christmas party, “It’s been an amazing four years. We are trying to do another four years. Otherwise, I’ll see you in four years.”

Much of the early speculation about Trump’s 2024 intentions came following a poll released by Morning Consult in late November. The data company reported that 54% of Republicans they polled said they would vote for Trump in 2024 if the Republican presidential primaries were “held today.”

Only a day after it was released, that poll sailed across the president’s Twitter feed and he commented, “But 2020 is a long way from over.”
