Reality star and business woman Kim Kardashian opened up about co-parenting with rapper and ex-husband Kanye West.

On Monday, Kardashian appeared on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast and spoke about putting her kids first.

“Like, I could be going through something, but if we’re riding to school and they wanna listen to their dad’s music, no matter what we’re going through, no matter what is happening in the world, like, I have to have that, you know, smile on my face, and blast his music and sing along with my kids and act like nothing’s wrong,” she explained.

She tearfully shared that “co-parenting is really f—ing hard” and spoke about the relationship she had with her own father, lawyer Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003, after a two-month battle with esophageal cancer.

“I had the best dad and I had the best memories and the greatest experience and that’s all I want for my kids as long as they can have that, that’s what I would want for them,” she said.

She continued, “If they don’t know things that are being said or what’s happening in the world, like, why would I ever bring that energy to them? That is real, heavy, heavy, grownup s— that they’re not ready to deal with and when they are, we’ll have those conversations and I’ll be so prepared.”

Kardashian added that she will “do anything to keep their life as normal as possible.”

She also spoke about why she continues to give West “grace.”

“One day, my kids will thank me for not sitting here and bashing their dad and I could,” the mother of four said.

Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February 2021.

In an interview with Vogue she spoke about what caused the split.

“For so long, I did what made other people happy,” she explained. “And I think in the last two years I decided, I’m going to make myself happy. And that feels really good.”

She added, “And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy. I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s okay to choose you.”
