Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) described President Joe Biden, 81, as being in “political trouble” with his poll numbers sitting “on the ocean floor.”

During an interview on “Fox and Friends” on Thursday, Kennedy spoke about the ongoing flood of illegal immigrants through the southern border and touched on Biden’s age as he seeks re-election in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

“President Biden is in political trouble,” Kennedy said. “His poll numbers are practically on the ocean floor. Seventy percent of the American people think his first car was a chariot.”

Kennedy continued to blast Vice President Kamala Harris for talking “like she’s from outer space.”

“Part of the reason that the president and his vice president are in trouble is the border, it’s wide open,” Kennedy continued. “It’s pretty easily fixed, just stop people from coming in, duh.”

The Louisiana senator’s words come as a new estimate provided by Steven Camarota, the research director for the Center for Immigration Studies, revealed that the number of “gotaways” in the U.S. was around 13 million.

Camarota also revealed that there were nearly 50 million immigrants, both illegal and legal in the U.S.

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security recently revealed that around 670,000 “gotaways” had entered the country last fiscal year, with more than 5,000 illegal immigrants being released to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the U.S. daily.

A gotaway is a person who has entered the United States illegally and has not been apprehended by customs or border patrol officers.

Customs and Border Protection found that nearly 241,000 migrants had attempted to cross the southern border in October, an 11% decrease from the almost 270,000 migrant apprehensions reported during September.

Kennedy continued to add that the reason Biden has not addressed the ongoing border crisis is because he is a “captive of the loon wing of the Democratic Party.”

“Not all Democrats believe in an open border, but the loons do,” Kennedy added. “And, unfortunately, many members of the White House staff that make policy with their pumpkin spice lattes and their man purses, they believe in open borders.”

Senate Republicans recently blocked a $111 million supplemental funding bill requested by Biden. Included in the bill was funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, as well as funding to increase border security.

“The president sent us a national security bill and we said, ‘OK, we’re going to do national security. We’re not going to pass your bill until you close the border,’ and the president said, ‘Surely, you’re not serious,'” Kennedy added.
