Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) expressed the need to stand by Israel as they continue to fight against Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist organization.

In a thread on X, formerly known as Twitter, Fetterman referenced a recent explosion at a hospital in Gaza and how many people had been quick to incorrectly cast blast on Israel for the attack which led to the death of hundreds of people.

The Israeli government said that the explosion at the hospital was caused by an errant Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket.

“Now is not the time to talk about a ceasefire,” Fetterman wrote. “We must support Israel in efforts to eliminate the Hamas terrorists who slaughtered innocent men, women, and children.”

Hamas does not want peace, they want to destroy Israel. We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized.

“Hamas does not want peace, they want to destroy Israel,” Fetterman continued. “We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized.”

Fetterman’s post about the ceasefire came the same day that pro-Palestinian protesters descended upon the Cannon House Office Building on Capitol Hill calling for an Israeli ceasefire.

In his thread, Fetterman said that he was grieving for “every innocent person and brave Israeli soldier killed since Hamas started this war.”

Fetterman continued to point out that if it weren’t for the “horrific attacks by Hamas terrorists, thousands of innocent Israelis and Palestinians would still be alive today.”

Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7 in which thousands of rockets were fired and more than 250 who had been attending a music festival near the Gaza border were left dead. Over 1,000 more people were murdered with most tortured to death as a result of the Oct. 7 attacks, including babies and children.

In the aftermath of the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared war on Hamas.

Since Hamas’ attack, at least 1,400 people have been reported dead, including 30 Americans. The Israeli military has informed the families of 203 people that some of their loved ones are among those who have been taken as hostages by Hamas in Gaza, according to The New York Times.
