‘I Believe It Will Pass’: Mike Johnson Says He’s Confident House Will Vote to Greenlight Biden Impeachment Inquiry

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is offering a brutal assessment of President Joe Biden in the wake of a shocking special counsel report.

On Thursday evening, Biden delivered combative remarks in response to a report from Special Counsel Robert Hur that declined to recommend charges over his handling of classified documents, but made shocking claims about his memory.

The president sought to defend his memory, but the press conference did not go so smoothly.

And after the event, Johnson posted on X, “The President’s press conference this evening further confirmed on live television what the Special Counsel report outlined.”

“He is not fit to be President,” Johnson added.

One portion of Hur’s report alleges, “In his interview with our office, Mr. Biden’s memory was worse. He did not remember when he was vice president, forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended (‘if it was 2013 – when did I stop being Vice President?’), and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began (‘in 2009, am I still Vice President?’).”

It also claimed Biden “did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.”

During his press conference, the president insisted he knew when his son died.

“There is even reference that I don’t remember when my son died. How in the hell dare he raise that? When I was asked the question I thought to myself, it wasn’t any of their damn business,” Biden said about that portion of the report.

He added, “I wear since since the day he died — every single day — the rosary he got from Our Lady of…”

He did not name the church, but said, “I don’t need anyone to remind me when he passed away.”

Biden’s team has pushed back on the portion of Hur’s report that focused on the president’s memory, saying, “We do not believe that the report’s treatment of President Biden’s memory is accurate or appropriate. The report uses highly prejudicial language to describe a commonplace occurrence among witnesses: a lack of recall of years-old event.”
