President-elect Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, are seeking to reassure Americans in their Christmas message.

Dr. Jill Biden acknowledged the COVID-19 pandemic has deeply affected holiday celebrations this year but encouraged Americans better days are ahead.

“Even as our celebrations are dimmed, we know that this won’t be forever, and brighter days are coming soon,” she said.

Dr. Jill Biden added, “On this holy day, we remember that love and joy can be shared across the farthest distances. We celebrate apart, but not alone, and look forward to next year when we can come together with renewed appreciation for the people and the traditions we love.”

Joe Biden recognized some Americans are struggling due to unemployment.

“We’re reminded we’re on this earth to care for one another, to give what we can, and to be a source of help and hope to friend and stranger alike,” he said.

They expressed their appreciation for essential and frontline workers.

The president-elect and his wife recognized scientists and researchers for working to deliver vaccines.

They thought of service members “who are far from home and the loved ones who miss them.”

Joe Biden noted for their family, they usually have around 20 to 25 people for Christmas Eve for dinner.

“Not this year. We’re going to miss our family, but it’s what we need to do to keep our family safe,” the former vice president said.

He urged Americans to limit their travel and size of family gatherings.

They concluded, “So from our family to yours, Merry Christmas and happy holidays.”

Joe Biden told The New York Times on Wednesday he would be prioritizing the pandemic once he takes office in January, as IJR previously reported.

“It will be the first priority, the second priority and the third priority — to deal with Covid and bring down the spread and bring down the death rate,” he said.
