President-elect Joe Biden is doubling down on his defense of his son, Hunter Biden, following an investigation into his son’s taxes.

After he introduced former presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg (D) as his secretary of transportation, a reporter asked Biden on Wednesday, “Are you confident your son Hunter did nothing wrong?”

He replied, “I am confident.”

Biden’s answer comes less than a week after a reporter asked the former vice president during an event in Wilmington, Delaware, “Did Hunter Biden commit a crime? Have you spoken to your son, Mr. President-Elect?”

He said, “I’m proud of my son.”

Hunter Biden revealed last week the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware is investigating his “tax affairs,” as IJR previously reported.

“I take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” he said.

President Donald Trump is calling for a special counsel to be appointed to advance the investigation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) weighed in on the matter.

“If you believe a special counsel was needed to look at the Trumpworld regarding Russia, how can you say that there’s no need for a special counsel regarding Hunter Biden?” Graham told reporters Wednesday.

He continued, “I’m absolutely calling on a special counsel to look at all things Hunter Biden.”

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany accused the media of failing to cover the Hunter Biden story prior to the election.

“Interesting pre-election and post-election coverage too on the Hunter Biden scandal, which was not covered at all by many outlets and the lead up to the election,” McEnany said during her press briefing Tuesday.

She went on, “In fact, on Oct. 15 you had a New York Times headline that said, ‘Trump said to be warned that he was being given Russian disinformation over Hunter Biden.’ Now, Dec. 10, just a few months later, New York Times headline, ‘Investigation of Hunter Biden is likely to hang over Biden as he takes office.'”

The New York Post published a report about Hunter Biden’s business dealings in October. The report alleges Joe Biden met with an executive for Burisma while he was still in office. He later denied the report.
