President Joe Biden was criticized for remarks he made in which he falsely stated that he saw a bridge in Pittsburgh collapse. While speaking in Milwaukee on Tuesday, Biden spoke about Bidenomics and later brought up the topic of having seen the Fern Hollow Bridge in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, collapse. The Fern Hollow Bridge, which was built in 1973, collapsed on Jan. 28, 2022, according to the Associated Press. "Pittsburgh is a city of bridges. More bridges in Pittsburgh than any other city in America," Biden claimed. "I watched that bridge collapse. I got there and saw it collapse," Biden said of the incident. https://twitter.com/RNCResearch/status/1691519427433357313 Biden's false claim was sharply criticized by people on X, formerly known as Twitter. According to Fox News, Biden made a planned visit to Pittsburgh that day, but arrived after the bridge already fell. Veteran and author Sean Parnell posted, "I can assure you Biden did not personally watch a bridge collapse here in Pittsburgh." https://twitter.com/SeanParnellUSA/status/1691528200004698115 "Must have happened during one of his long-haul trucking routes," small business owner David Giglio posted. https://twitter.com/DavidGiglioCA/status/1691528901359771648 "Another day another lie... why is this tolerated," sports commentator Dan Dakich said. https://twitter.com/dandakich/status/1691541846705557504 Former Florida state Rep. Jason Fischer (R) reacted to Biden's claim by saying he was "lying to us. It never happened." https://twitter.com/JasonFischerFL/status/1691781445277155416 Another user questioned how Biden was able to "get away with this?" https://twitter.com/DerekWoolwine/status/1691653524369690843 "Honestly, the President of the United States lying through his teeth and NO ONE in the mainstream media calls him out. What an embarrassment to our country - both Biden and MSMedia," the user wrote.
