Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s remarks surrounding the Latino and Black communities raised eyebrows on Thursday, especially those of President Donald Trump.

During the annual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists, Biden offered his opinion of how Latino voters are different from Black voters.

“What you all know, but most people don’t know, unlike the African-American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community, with incredibly different attitudes about different things,” Biden said.

Speaking with reporters outside of the White House, Trump slammed Biden for his comments.

“Joe Biden this morning, totally disparaged and insulted the black community. What he said is incredible and I don’t know what’s going on with him, but it was a very insulting statement he made,” Trump said.

He added, “I guess you’ll figure that out. You’ll see it in a little while, but it was a great insult to the black community.”

According to polling data, minorities between the ages of 18 and 34 are showing strong support for Biden.

A total of 60 percent of young Latino voters, 75 percent of young non-Hispanic Black voters, and 72 percent of young non-Hispanic Asian voters say they would back Biden.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced Biden will not be traveling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to accept the the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, as IJR previously reported.

He will instead accept it from his home state of Delaware.

The announcement comes just days after Trump indicated he may accept the party’s nomination from Washington, D.C., as IJR previously reported.

As in-person campaign events have been put on hold amid the coronavirus pandemic, Trump’s re-election campaign is requesting the Commission on Presidential Debates schedule a fourth debate with Biden.

Despite rumors suggesting Biden will attempt to avoid debating Trump, Dr. Jill Biden confirmed her husband plans to attend the debates.
