First Lady Jill Biden received criticism over a Christmas video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, showing dancers tap dancing around the White House. "A bit of magic, wonder, and joy brought to you by the talented tappers of Dorrance Dance, performing their playful interpretation of The Nutcracker Suite," Jill Biden wrote in her post. The video consisted of dancers from the New York City-based Dorrance Dance tap dancing throughout rooms of the White House in eclectic-looking outfits as they perform their take on "The Nutcracker Suite" by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Dorrance Dance noted on its website that "tape dance is a subversive form" of dance with roots in "protest and transcendence, improvisation and innovation" that were crucial to its success. https://twitter.com/FLOTUS/status/1735074586721468855 People on the social media platform, however, took to the site to share their thoughts and roast the first lady's holiday video, pointing out its "Hunger Games"-like style. "The chestnuts are not getting roasted but Jill Biden is for her Hunger Games Capital District Christmas approach this year," Mollie Hemingway, the editor-in-chief of The Federalist, wrote. https://twitter.com/MZHemingway/status/1735306714994418001 "I'm not paying federal taxes ever again," one person wrote. https://twitter.com/MillennialOther/status/1735182824762683817 "Why would Jill Biden do this to us? This is flopping harder than Bidenomics," Jason Rantz, the host of "The Jason Rantz Show," wrote. https://twitter.com/jasonrantz/status/1735319579331891701 "What did this cost us?" Andrew Wilkow, the host of the "Wilkow Majority" radio show, wrote. https://twitter.com/WilkowMajority/status/1735138692929303036 Poet Joseph Massey wrote, "This looks like a vision of hell I had after eating a pot brownie many years ago. The resemblance is uncanny." https://twitter.com/jmasseypoet/status/1735160205539746190 "I thought this was a trailer for the new Hunger Games movie," another person wrote. https://twitter.com/TheMFingCOO/status/1735273980330725801 While many people criticized the video, many others praised the video. "I watched this with the biggest smile on my face," one user wrote. "Love this a lot!" "I only watched like a minute of this (I skipped around a bit) and it looks quite skillful and the decorations are good also i didn't see anything overly sexual so idk what the problem with this is," another user wrote.
