Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, is speaking out to defend her husband following President Donald Trump’s mocking remarks about his campaign.

During an appearance on ABC’s “The View” Tuesday, Jill Biden spoke with the show’s co-host Meghan McCain who highlighted Trump’s knack for neutralizing his opponents. She was asked how they plan to deal with Trump on the road to the White House.

Jill Biden is confident that her husband “can handle it.”

“We know who Trump is and Joe is strong. He’s been in politics most of his life and I think Joe can handle it. Joe’s used to handling bullies.”

Co-host Joy Behar also chimed in with similar sentiments signaling that she also believes Joe Biden is capable of handling Trump.

“I think he can handle it just fine,” Behar said, “I mean they go after him for his little gaffes that he makes. I mean he’s human and he makes mistakes.”

Behar went on to compare Trump’s words and actions to Joe Biden’s gaffes, saying, “It’s nothing like this criminal in the White House and the things that he says every day.”

“But I wish they would stop doing that,” Behar said of Trump’s attacks on Biden.

Jill Biden’s remarks came as her husband addressed reporters at an event in Wilmington, Delaware.

At the same event, Joe Biden lambasted Trump for his handling of the coronavirus and the reports on the Russian bounties, describing the president’s claims as a “dereliction of duty” if he was briefed about the matter. (0:37)

As the president continues to distance himself from the handling of the coronavirus, infection rates have continued to increase.

As of Sunday, a total of 37 states are seeing rises in case numbers. There are also more than 2.7 million known coronavirus cases in the U.S., as of Tuesday afternoon.
