Actor Jeremy Renner shared heartbreaking details regarding a snow plow accident that left him in critical condition.

In an emotional interview with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America,” Renner, 52, revealed he wasn’t sure he would survive the accident and was prepared to say goodbye to his loved ones.

“So I’m writing down notes in my phone … last words to my family,” he said as he began to tear up.

The “Hawkeye” star shared it would have been “a horrible way to die” if he was alone and believes he definitely would have.

However, Renner said he “wasn’t alone” and expressed his gratitude for his nephew who was with him after he was crushed by the 7-ton PistenBully.

“It was my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the cavalry came,” he added.

The full interview titled “Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph” will be released on April 6.

Following the accident, an incident report, obtained by CNN, stated, “Once he (Jeremy Renner) was off the Pistenbully, he realized it was heading directly toward (his nephew). He feared the Pistenbully was going to hit (his nephew), so he decided to attempt to stop or divert the Pistenbully.”

The report said “the Pistenbully rolled over him and continued down the road.“

“He laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) rendered aid to him until medical personnel arrived on scene,” the report continued.

Renner has been updating fans on Twitter about his progress and recently posted a video of himself walking on a treadmill.

“I now have to find OTHER things to occupy my time so my body can recover from my will,” he wrote in the caption.

On New Year’s Day, Renner was in “critical but stable condition” after reportedly suffering injuries from a snow plowing accident in Reno, Nevada.

According to his representative, Sam Mast, Renner was then airlifted to a local hospital where he was surrounded by family and received “excellent care.”
