Senior White House advisor Jared Kushner is weighing in on how President Donald Trump is coping with the death of his brother, Robert Trump.

Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Kushner spoke to the relationship the president had with his brother and how he plans to memorialize him moving forward.

“The president loved his brother very much and he was able to see him the day before yesterday,” Kushner said.

He added, “His brother was very proud of him. And obviously a very tough moment for the president, but he is looking forward to continuing to do great things and make his brother proud.”

Robert Trump died on Saturday night, as IJR previously reported.

President Trump released a statement announcing his death.

“It is with heavy heart I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, peacefully passed away tonight. He was not just my brother, he was my best friend,” the president said.

He added, “He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live on in my heart forever. Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”

The statement did not reveal the cause of death.

According to the president, Robert Trump was “having a hard time” with an unknown illness.

A business executive and real estate developer, Robert Trump avoided the limelight.

Trump’s children Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump took to Twitter to share their feelings.

“Robert Trump was an incredible man – strong, kind and loyal to the core. Anyone who encountered him felt his warmth immediately. He will be deeply missed by our entire family,” Eric Trump said.
